Kat & David: Ripley Castle – Sneaky Peek

Here’s a quick peek at a few images from Kat & David’s fab wedding on Saturday, first at St Josephs church in Harrogate then onto Ripley castle. Everything about the day was relaxed and fun – we had a gorgeous couple, a Vera Wang dress, very entertaining best man, routemaster bus and triplets for bridesmaids which got very confusing! Anyway the full post will come in a couple of weeks after Kat & David come back from honeymoon but for now here is a sneaky peek of the day.

Kat’s wedding present to David – tickets to the British Grand Prix – got a great reaction from the guys!

Kat & David : Clapham London

Last weekend we were down as family back to my home town of London. After a day of seeing the Dr Who exhibition  and going to the Wizard of Oz (and dodging the odd riot!) I spent the Sunday morning with Kat & David around Clapham Common whilst Lou took the kids to the British Museum. The weather was fab and instead of having a quite a peaceful common to do the shoot it seemed every family and their dog were out for the day. Kat & David are getting married and the gorgeous Ripley Castle back in Yorkshire and we love photographing weddings there.

Once we had finished the shoot we went to a fab little place just off the common called The Patisserie for coffee and hot chocolate. We chatted about their day and things that they planned – needless to say it sounds as if it’s going to be a great day and Lou & I are really looking forward to it.

Happy Christmas & New Year

Wow! where has the year gone. It has truly been an amazing year. We have met so many interesting people and been to some incredible places in 2010. It is difficult for us to thank everyone but first I would like to say thank you to everyone of our couples this year. Every wedding has been great to be involved with and we have been made so welcome by everyone on their special day.

We’re so lucky that we work with some amazing suppliers in the wedding industry so a big thanks and happy Christmas to them, especially Fiona at Firenza, Sally and everyone at Papakata Tipis and all the amazing venues we’ve worked at this year – Allerton Castle, Hazlewood Castle, Ripley Castle (so many castles!), Oulton Hall, Rudding Park and so many others. Also big love to James at Roeni who not only is an amazingly talented designer and all round lovely chap but also designed and produced the Barber Photography Christmas cards again this year.

Thanks to my friends at Aspire up in the Lake District who have continued to inspire me this year. I’m so proud to be part of the team up there and really excited with the projects for 2011. Catherine & Jane we wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for you guys.

In the my other world of 3B Media particular thank yous go to Hope & Social Si, Rich, Ed, Gary, Si & James and the peeps involved with them Ben  Mark Roo. You guys have given me the most fabulous experiences this year and long may it continue into 2011.

The lads of Cities Between Us – Josh Nimal Stef Jo & Val – You rock and we are looking forward to the new album in 2011. Skylarkin for allowing us into your inner sanctum to record you guys at work. Mike Heaton for letting us get involved with your exciting project ( More of which in 2011!)

Also of course big big thanks to Rob and Barns, my 3B partners in crime. These two guys have been my biggest inspiration this year. Opening my eyes to new worlds and seeing things that would normally pass me by. They make me as giddy as a kipper. We’ve got big plans for the future helped by the wonderful Hayley who has given us the belief and focus – so 2011 will hopefully be a great year for us.

Lastly a big thank you to my main partner in crime – my gorgeous wife Lou and mother to our fab kids. These guys are the reason we do this. Lou is someone who keeps me on the straight and narrow . Gives me kick up the backside when I need it but allows me to follow my dreams not matter how stupid they may seem at the time.

Lou I love you and you are all I could ask for .

Happy Christmas everybody and have a Happy New Year.

Hannah & Gavin – PreWedding at Saltaire

Back to the end of April we go and it seems that time is flying this year.  I met up with Hannah and Gavin for their Pre-Wed shoot around Saltaire near Shipley. If you ever get the chance and not made it to this part of the world check out  Salts Mill and the David Hockney gallery 1853. A great place to come and be inspired. So it makes it a great location to take couples and walk along the canal to chat about their wedding plans. Like with all our couples we try and make this process as easy as possible. This usually means starting off with a large coffee or something stronger sometimes! But once we start I find the couples really getting into the pre-wedding shoot and start enjoying it. I have to say with Gavin he was a natural and loved playing up to the camera. We have just covered there wedding last month at the amazing Ripley Castle. It was a great day and made all the more interesting with the guys all wearing black tartan kilts. More of that to follow very soon. But in the meantime enjoy the slideshow below of some more images from their shoot.

Karen & Richard Wedding: 30th May 2009

kariblog-009

I was back at Ripley Castle last Saturday for Karen and Richard’s wedding. This time I had Lou with me and I have to say it was a fantastic day.

The weather was glorious all day (dare I say, a bit too hot? No, I’d better not complain!!) The ceremony was at the village church in Aldborough, a village which has shot straight into the top ten of Lou’s ‘Places I’d like to live’ list. Anyway, the church was gorgeous, the service was gorgeous and Karen looked stunning as she made her entrance. She certainly got the thumbs up from Richard as she walked up the aisle!

After the ceremony it was back to Ripley Castle for the reception. As guests sipped champagne on the lawn they were entertained by an amazing string trio Pluck who had travelled all the way from London for Richard & Karen’s wedding. They really were fantastic – as well as being superb musicians they kept everyone amused with their fantastic cabaret act, and even performed around the tables during the wedding breakfast.

Karen & Richard made their grand entrance into the castle grounds in a vintage Bentley and then we were able to take them off around the beautiful grounds for their photos with the castle in the background.

Karen & Richard have jetted off to the South Pacific for their honeymoon which sounds kinda nice! Thanks so much for inviting us to photograph your wedding guys – we’ll see you soon!

Phil & Lou xx
