Happy Christmas & New Year

Wow! where has the year gone. It has truly been an amazing year. We have met so many interesting people and been to some incredible places in 2010. It is difficult for us to thank everyone but first I would like to say thank you to everyone of our couples this year. Every wedding has been great to be involved with and we have been made so welcome by everyone on their special day.

We’re so lucky that we work with some amazing suppliers in the wedding industry so a big thanks and happy Christmas to them, especially Fiona at Firenza, Sally and everyone at Papakata Tipis and all the amazing venues we’ve worked at this year – Allerton Castle, Hazlewood Castle, Ripley Castle (so many castles!), Oulton Hall, Rudding Park and so many others. Also big love to James at Roeni who not only is an amazingly talented designer and all round lovely chap but also designed and produced the Barber Photography Christmas cards again this year.

Thanks to my friends at Aspire up in the Lake District who have continued to inspire me this year. I’m so proud to be part of the team up there and really excited with the projects for 2011. Catherine & Jane we wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for you guys.

In the my other world of 3B Media particular thank yous go to Hope & Social Si, Rich, Ed, Gary, Si & James and the peeps involved with them Ben  Mark Roo. You guys have given me the most fabulous experiences this year and long may it continue into 2011.

The lads of Cities Between Us – Josh Nimal Stef Jo & Val – You rock and we are looking forward to the new album in 2011. Skylarkin for allowing us into your inner sanctum to record you guys at work. Mike Heaton for letting us get involved with your exciting project ( More of which in 2011!)

Also of course big big thanks to Rob and Barns, my 3B partners in crime. These two guys have been my biggest inspiration this year. Opening my eyes to new worlds and seeing things that would normally pass me by. They make me as giddy as a kipper. We’ve got big plans for the future helped by the wonderful Hayley who has given us the belief and focus – so 2011 will hopefully be a great year for us.

Lastly a big thank you to my main partner in crime – my gorgeous wife Lou and mother to our fab kids. These guys are the reason we do this. Lou is someone who keeps me on the straight and narrow . Gives me kick up the backside when I need it but allows me to follow my dreams not matter how stupid they may seem at the time.

Lou I love you and you are all I could ask for .

Happy Christmas everybody and have a Happy New Year.

Bridget & David: Wedding at Allerton Castle

Last week saw us back at one of our favourite venues, Allerton Castle, for Bridget & David’s wedding. We love working there and really feel part of the Allerton family. It’s lovely bumping into friends we’ve made within the wedding business -  Bridget & David had chosen our friend Fiona at Firenza to produce their beautiful (and gorgeous smelling) floral displays, and Chris & the guys from the Event Music Company provided the music for the day. Lauren Sally was Bridget’s fab make up artist (got a sneaky pic of here below!). We’ve worked with Lauren before last year at Laura & Jamie’s wedding so it was lovely to see her again.

We met up with Bridget & David at Allerton for their preparations and as usual I joined the girls while they sipped champagne and had their make up done. Lou hung out with the guys in the billiard room until the ceremony started. We managed to get outside for some photos and Bridget & David really entered into things despite the windy conditions so we ended up with some ace shots.

Bridget & David are probably sunning themselves on a tropical beach at the moment, but we wish them both loads of happy times.

Tamsin & Will: Wedding 28th November 2009

couple-1

Our last November wedding took us to Allerton Castle again for Tamsin & Will’s special day. As always the staff at the castle ran the day to perfection, and a big shout out to Claudie who coordinated everything beautifully, and an even bigger shout out to Allerton’s other events coordinator Sophie. She wasn’t there on the day because she was busy having a baby! Congratulations Sophie!!!

We were also joined on the day by a (newish) friend of ours, videographer Mark Lenik who was great to work with. He’s a great chap and very much on our wavelength, so if anyone’s looking for an ace video guy he’s yer man.

Anyway, back to Tamsin & Will. The day started out for both Lou and me at the castle for Tam’s preparations. As usual it it was a bit manic with the girls! Over the years I’ve discovered that one bride and four bridesmaids need a lot of stuff, so I seem to spend lots of time clearing things away to create (relatively) clean backgrounds. Amongst all this, though, Tamsin was a haven of calm. Meanwhile Will and the boys had arrived, all looking James Bond-esque in their DJ’s. The doing up of the cummerbunds caused much merriment.

The ceremony was beautiful, made all the more spine tingling by the presence of the Harrogate male voice choir, who sang some beautiful stirring songs. The Christmas tree was twinkling in the background in front of a roaring fire, and it all felt really special.

Although the weather was a bit chilly, Tam was more than willing to go outside for some photos after the ceremony which was great (and very brave) of her. She even managed to venture outside later on in the evening after the wedding breakfast for some night time shots (although I think by that time she’s had enough champagne to take the chill off!)

Tam and Will, your wedding was such a fabulous day – thanks for sharing it with us!

Kirsty & Gareth: Wedding 14th November 2009

allerton-040

We spent an amazing day at Allerton Castle a couple of weeks ago for Kirsty & Gareth’s wedding. Allerton is one of our favourite venues and we always get some amazing images working there. It’s a venue that really lends itself to winter weddings – it was quite a cold November day but inside the castle was beautifully lit with hundreds of candles and a huge fire blazed in the great hall.

Both Kirsty and Gareth got ready there so it made for a really chilled out day. Kirsty looked amazing in her beautiful wedding gown – I think Gareth was a bit gobsmacked as his wife to be swept down the staircase to meet him.

After the ceremony Kirsty braved the cold for some photos outside, then is was back into the castle for the wedding breakfast and some fab speeches. Kirsty and Gareth broke with tradition and had three first dance songs which gave me loads of opportunity to run up and down the stairs getting shots of the happy couple from the balcony.

Kirsty & Gareth, it was such a pleasure to spend your wedding day with you. We wish you lots of happiness for your future together.

Phil & Lou xx
