Michelle & Richard: Pre-Wedding Shoot Leeds

A couple of weeks ago I had my first pre-wedding shoot of 2010. Michelle and Richard are a great couple and came out and braved the cold for a shoot around the Holbeck Urban Village area of Leeds. It is a location that has been slowly regenerated and is now starting to be a thriving part of Leeds with its bars, cafes and trendy offices. The businesses around here are focused on creative & digital media and is the location we hold our 3B Media training courses (being cool and trendy ourselves!!). It’s a great location for shoots as it offers the best of both worlds – a little bit country, a little bit rock & roll!

At the start of the shoot I think Richard was a bit unsure of what was going to happen but threw himself into the morning and by the end of the shoot was really enjoying it. The pre-wedding shoot is a good way for me to get to know our clients and find more about their wedding days but also to take the fear out of having their picture taken. Anyway Michelle & Richard’s plans for their wedding seem to moving along apace and we are really looking forward to meeting up with them in August for their wedding at Waterton Park – it sould be a fabulous day.

On Saturday I was asked to do a family shoot for one of our wedding clients from last year. Kate & James were married on August Bank holiday weekend and recently asked me over to do the shoot. We spent the morning doing some great portraits of everybody but things became interesting at the end when James produced 7 proper light sabres. It has to be said in all my time as a photographer this was a first. I will post more images from the shoot later this week but I thought it would be cool to share the one above. Although you probably can’t tell – the room was almost pitch black and the only available light came from the light sabres themselves. Darth Vader if you are watching – you better watch out!

Samantha & Paul : Wedding 12th September

sapa-031

We were on the other side of the pennines again on Saturday for Samantha & Paul’s wedding near Blackburn. We were so lucky with the weather as it turned out to be a bit of a scorcher. Fantastic for Sam & Paul, but a bit tricky photography-wise!

Both Sam & Paul were getting ready at their reception venue, the gorgeous Stanley House Hotel, so it was fun watching Paul scuttle into the gents to avoid seeing his wife to be as she arrived with her entourage! Stanley House is a new venue to us, but one we’d love to work at again. It’s just the kind of place we like working in with stunning contemporary interiors, pretty gardens and beautiful sweeping vistas over the hills.

Anyway, once everyone was in their finery it was off to the nearby St. Peter’s church for the ceremony. It’s another beautiful church – we’ve worked in so many lovely ones recently. After that, Sam and Paul piled into an amazing open top Rolls Royce for their journey back to Stanley House, and after drinks, confetti and photos in the sunshine it was time for the wedding breakfast.

The room looked stunning and Sam & Paul (well, Sam really I think!) had put so much thought and effort into decorating the tables – it looked really magical. After an evening reception involving limbo dancing and a Village People tribute by 5 of Paul’s mates, I left everyone having a blast and tootled off back home.

Sam & Paul, we had such a fantastic time t your wedding. We’re looking forward to catching up with you again soon.

Best wishes

Phil & Lou xx

Stephanie & Darren: Pre-Wedding shoot 6th July 2009

stdapw-005

I’m a bit late posting up this pre-wedding shoot as Stephanie and Darren get married on Friday! We did their pre-wed back in July at Roundhay Park in Leeds which is a regular haunt of ours – the kids love it there.

We’re really excited about seeing Darren & Stephanie again on Friday for their wedding. I always try and phone clients a couple of days before the wedding and Lou spoke to Darren today. I think the nerves are kicking in now – he was getting a bit nervous (understandably!) and of course excited too.

As usual we’ll be posting up some of their wedding pictures early next week so come back then to have a gander. In the meantime here are a few pics from their pre-wed.

Emma & Steve: Pre-Wedding Shoot 5th July 2009

emstpw-023

This week’s pre-wedding shoot blog number two now. I met up with Emma & Steve at their wedding venue, Woodlands Hotel, for their pre wedding shoot and planning meeting. Emma and Steve booked us for their wedding back in 2007 so I hadn’t seen them for aaages. It was great to catch up and natter about their plans for the day. It’s unusual for me to do pre-wedding shoots at wedding venues, so it was nice to be back at Woodlands without the pressure and wedding day nerves (yes, photographers get them too!) and we were able to have a good old mooch around the gorgeous grounds without having to worry about a) the time and b) getting white dresses and Jimmy Choos muddy.

Anyway, here are a few more of Emma and Steve’s pics. Guys, we’re so excited for your wedding in September – we’ll see you then!
