Comic Relief 2011 – Red Nose Day

Red Nose Day is your chance to transform the lives of poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged people across the UK and Africa. From restoring the sight of children in Africa to giving isolated older people in the UK the support they need to enjoy their lives – your cash can do all this and much, much more. We would like you to get involved, the difference you’ll make is nothing short of amazing.

At Barber Photography we have set ourselves a target of raising £250 for Comic Relief.

We are offering the opportunity for someone to spend whole day with us and learn all things photography. We will even buy you lunch. So whether you want to spend the whole day out shooting or a day in front of the computer screen learning how to use Adobe Lightroom. Advice on how to shoot weddings or just to go to the pub and hang out the agenda of the day is entirely up to you as long it is photography related.

The highest donation by the end of March will win the the day out with us. Even if you don’t want to spend the day with us please still support Comic Relief as your cash really can make a huge difference to the lives of vulnerable people across the UK and Africa.

Thank you.

Italy – Summer 2010

Today felt like the first proper day of spring. Finally I think we can say good bye to the long cold winter and look forward to some warm summer days and evenings. It brought back some memories of last summer when we went out to Italy. Checkout some of the images below all taken on the iPhone4 using the ace app ‘Hipstamatic’ This goes to show you don’t need to take loads of camera gear to get some great images.

One Day Weddings // Inspiring Photography Workshops by 3B Media

If you’re an aspiring professional photographer looking at getting into the wedding photography market, or someone you know has agreed to let you try out your skills on there wedding then this is definitely a workshop you wont want to miss. At 3B Media, we’ve photographed hundreds of weddings and know the business back-to-front. This one-day practical workshop based in a boutique hotel in Leeds is focussed around getting some stunning portfolio images and some real-life practice on a real bride & groom, whilst giving you the need-to-know basics on organising yourself before, during and after the big day.

We’ll show you some great posing techniques to get the best out of even the most nervous couple and leave them with some great pictures and good memories. You’ll also leave with loads of invaluable information surrounding the planning and practicalities of wedding photography.

This workshop is not a gear-intensive course and will give you an amazing portfolio of images that will be repeatable on the wedding day. A basic working knowledge on how to use your DSLR will be required, as we’ll be focussing less on technique and more on your style and approach to photographing weddings. At only £275 per delegate including lunch and refreshments, this is a great investment to your photography and your business.

You can view full details of the workshop and book online via our website here.

Get To Know Your DSLR // Inspiring Photography Workshops by 3B Media

You may know that last year Rob Booker , Barnaby Aldrick & myself joined forces to create 3B Media, a lens-based media training company.

We’ve been dreaming big for the future, and are excited to announce a whole list of training workshops for amateurs & aspiring professionals.

Check out our 2011 curriculum here.

The wedding, portraits and flash workshops we’ve run so far have generally been full-day mid-week courses for aspiring professionals. Yet, we often get amateur enthusiasts contacting us about the best SLR to buy or asking if we run basic courses on how to get the most out of their digital SLRs.

So we’ve created a ‘Get to know your Digital SLR’ workshop:

The title may not be so catchy, but it does what it says on the tin!

It’s a 3-hr evening class (6.30>9:30pm) for DSLR/prosumer camera owners looking to get their skills together and become better photographers.

We’re running evening workshops suitable for all, throughout the year; including 15th March, 21st April, 10th May and 21st September.

In case you missed that, the next one is NEXT TUESDAY (15th March at Woodlands Hotel, Leeds)!

We’ll be covering aperture, shutter speeds, ISO, composition, lenses, focusing and lots of other tech stuff but without all the tech language.

It’s going to be a lot of fun, with Phil, Rob & myself (all pro photographers) there to answer all your questions (even the silly ones)!

For online booking and all the information you need, head to the 3B Media site at: http://www.3bmedia.co.uk/index.php/workshops/get-to-know-your-dslr

Hopefully see you there!
