Kirsty & Gareth: Wedding 14th November 2009

allerton-040

We spent an amazing day at Allerton Castle a couple of weeks ago for Kirsty & Gareth’s wedding. Allerton is one of our favourite venues and we always get some amazing images working there. It’s a venue that really lends itself to winter weddings – it was quite a cold November day but inside the castle was beautifully lit with hundreds of candles and a huge fire blazed in the great hall.

Both Kirsty and Gareth got ready there so it made for a really chilled out day. Kirsty looked amazing in her beautiful wedding gown – I think Gareth was a bit gobsmacked as his wife to be swept down the staircase to meet him.

After the ceremony Kirsty braved the cold for some photos outside, then is was back into the castle for the wedding breakfast and some fab speeches. Kirsty and Gareth broke with tradition and had three first dance songs which gave me loads of opportunity to run up and down the stairs getting shots of the happy couple from the balcony.

Kirsty & Gareth, it was such a pleasure to spend your wedding day with you. We wish you lots of happiness for your future together.

Phil & Lou xx

Jeyda & Gavin: Wedding 24th October 2009

jegawed-234

We spent a fantastic couple of days in stunning rural North Wales back in October for Jeyda & Gavin’s wedding. It’s a part of the world that we’re not so familiar with, but we were blown away by the stunning views there. Jeyda & Gavin live here in York, but Jeyda grew up in North Wales and here family still live there so it was a real homecoming for her.

The venue they chose was Plas Isaf in Corwen near Llangollen. Plas Isaf is a beautiful farmhouse & barn which has been stunningly converted into an amazing wedding venue, and we could really see why Jeyda & Gavin fell in love with it.

When we woke up on the morning of the wedding the weather didn’t look too promising, but as the morning went on the rain began to clear and we were rewarded with a rainbow – I’m sure that must be good luck!  Jeyda and her bridesmaids got ready in the main farmhouse, and the ceremony itself took place in the converted barn. It was an amazing setting for a beautiful ceremony. The showers continued on and off for most of the day, but we were lucky enough to be able to use the gardens outside for some photos after the ceremony.

By the time we’d finished the photos the barn had been set out for the wedding breakfast, and after some fantastic (and a bit embarrassing for Gavin!) speeches, it was time for the evening reception and first dances.

We had an amazing time at Jeyda & Gavin’s wedding. Thank you both for inviting us to be part of your day!

Phil & Lou xx

Half price prints & digital files!

xmas offerJust to let everyone know we’re currently running a half price promotion on prints and digital files on our secure ordering website. We always get a big upsurge in print orders round about this time and going into December (can’t think why..) so we thought we’d give everyone a bit of a Christmas treat (and also give ourselves a chance to get everything done nice and early well before Christmas so we can crack open the sherry rather than dashing to the post office at 4.30pm on the 23rd December).

So, if you want to take advantage of the offer it’s on for this week only – the offer finishes at midnight next Sunday 29th. Just input your password as usual and the 50% reduction will be applied to your basket.

Please note the offer only applies to print and hi-res digital files, not to albums, frames and other products.

Sarah & David: Wedding 15th October 2009

sadawed-233

OK put the kettle on, & put your feet up because I am playing mega catch up now!  After several hard weeks behind the scenes things are starting to ease a bit in the run up to Christmas, so (hopefully) in the next few days I’ll be posting some pre-wedding shoots and weddings that we have been involved with during our ultra-busy October & November.

First up is Sarah & David who had their wedding at the lovely Hazlewood Castle. I was joined by my 3B chum Barnaby for the day – credit for a few of the picture below goes to him. October is always a great time of year for taking pictures because nature comes over all photogenic. This year especially we seem to have been blessed with some amazing Autumn colour. The day of Sarah & Dave’s wedding was a perfect example with a lovely mist softening the light and making the trees really stand out. Keats would have been v. impressed.

All of Sarah & Dave’s celebrations were taking place at Hazlewood and as ever the staff there ensured the day went without a hitch (well, apart from the obvious important hitch!). After a lovely ceremony we were able to make the most of the autumn colours by having some of the photos in the gorgeous grounds. Then it was into the Great Hall for the wedding breakfast which was beautifully laid out for Sarah, Dave & their guests. It was a short day for us and we didn’t stay on for the speeches and evening reception this time, but I know Sarah & Dave had an amazing wedding day.

Thanks guys for including us in your plans – it was an honour and a pleasure!!

Phil xx

3B Media • Inspiring Photography Workshops // Urban Portraits – booking now!

3B 400px Logo Grad

Myself, Rob Booker and Barnaby Aldrick have been working hard behind the scenes on our new company called 3B Media, which you may have read about on some previous blog posts.  We’re really excited as our first photography training day has been finalised and we’re now taking bookings!

We’ve called our workshop series: Inspiring Photography, because that’s exactly what we’re trying to do; teaching how to create inspiring images as well as inspiring photographers to get out there and create fresh work with limited gear.  Our first course is titled ‘Urban Portraits‘ and is all about capturing fun, fresh images in everyday urban & contemporary settings using only natural, available light.  This workshop is ideally suited to DSLR wielding amateurs and aspiring professionals.  Being about natural light, it is not a gear-intensive course and is open to varying levels of expertise.

You’ll learn how to shoot fresh clean images like this:

3B Urban Portraits [WR] 01

or this:

3B Urban Portraits [WR] 06

The workshop is going to be held in Leeds city centre on Tuesday 26th January 2010 and places are restricted to a select group of 12 lucky delegates.  It’s going to be fun and down to earth, with hands on teaching from three experienced pro-photographers and with 3 experienced models on hand to help create amazing new portfolio imagery.

The best thing is it that because it’s our first 3B Media workshop, we’re offering a special introductory half-price rate of just £150 per delegate (usually £295).  As well as our expertoodlidge, that bargain rate includes lunch & tea & coffees all day long!

If you want to learn more download the brochure by clicking here, or visiting the 3B Media site here.
