Claire & John Wedding: 23rd May 2009

cljowedblog-013

Wedding season is now in full swing with 5 weddings coming up in the next 3 weeks. On Saturday we spent our day with Claire & John. We have known them for sometime – ever since Claire was a bridemaid at Katie & Chris’s wedding nearly two years ago now, so it was a real pleasure to be able to share their day.

The ceremony was at St. Peter’s Church, Hartshead. We’ve worked there a few times in the past and it’s a beautiful church so it’s always nice to be back. The reception was held at Clough Manor up on Saddleworth Moor – a beautiful part of the world and very romantic in a Wuthering Heights kind of way. The kind of landscape we do best in northern England! We hadn’t worked at Clough Manor before, but it’s a lovely hotel with a gorgeous contemporary interior. The wedding breakfast room looked stunning all bedecked out in Claire & John’s black and white theme.

Claire and John, we wish you a very happy future together, and it was great to spend the day with you, your friends and families.

Vicky & Mark: Pre-Wedding shoot 9th May 2009

vimapw-001

A couple of weeks ago I met up with Vicky & Mark for their pre-wedding shoot. We arranged to meet at Roundhay park in Leeds which is an amazing place and has over the last couple of years has had quite a lot of money spent on it. After the fab weather during April we were hoping for a nice warm day but had to contend with a a bright but cold day.  I have to say that both Vicky & Mark were troopers and did very well to put up with the cold wind. Needless to say we managed to get some great shots in the short time we had together. These guys are getting married in just under 3 weeks at Wood Hall near Wetherby. This is a fab venue and a place we enjoy working at and can’t wait to be back there with Vicky & Mark on their special day.

Caroline & Richard: Wedding 16th May 2009

After celebrating our own wedding anniversary this week it was back to the real world of weddings. Saturday found us at Ripley Castle a stunning location just north of Harrogate. Lou was unable to make this wedding so I was ably assisted by Barnaby Aldrick who runs ‘The Sound Gallery‘ with me and as always is a pleasure to have him along.

Caroline spent her morning getting ready at the Boar’s Head which is on the Ripley Estate. Meanwhile downstairs they were getting ready for the rest of the wedding party to assemble before everybody walked across the road to the church. Caroline & Richard had a superb choir sing during the service. It was stirring stuff which made a few people reach for their hankies. After the service everybody came outside into some glorious sunshine which was amazing really because it had been raining quite hard during the service. Barnaby & I managed to get the group shots – family shots  and Caroline & Richard’s couple shots before everybody headed back inside for the wedding breakfast. It was at this point the heavens opened up again. We were very very lucky!

In the evening Caroline & Richard’s first dance was very ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ with both of them rehearsing for months  before the big day. I have to say they pulled it off superbly.

Thanks for such a fun day Caroline & Richard. Enjoy your honeymoon and we will see you when you get back

Phil & Lou: Wedding 11th May 1996

pbwed

Well, we had to post something up on our anniversary! Yes, 13 (OMG!!) years ago today Lou & I tied the knot. Check out the photos – not taken by Barber Wedding Photography, obv! – we look so young!! It really does seem like yesterday, even though we’ve had three houses and two children since then. So the pink fizz is on ice for tonight and we’ll raise a glass to the last thirteen eventful years and to the many more to come.

Anyway, I can heartily recommend marriage – it’s been great to us!

Sally & Mike: Pre-Wedding shoot 3rd May 2009

Last Sunday I met up with Sally & Mike at Fountains Abbey for their pre-wedding shoot. Instead of going into the main abbey and grounds we met on the other side where the deer park is. This is a beautiful area to go for walks and we had a stroll along the ‘Seven Bridges’ walk. The path winds through the valley of the Skell, set in an impressive gorge crossing 7 quaint stone bridges. During the walk we had to dodge a couple of rain showers so the bridges become great places to shelter underneath for a while. It’s not long to these guys’ wedding at the beginning of June and I’m looking forward to these summer days ahead.
