Christmas Walk

bolton-001

After having a great few days celebrating Christmas the kids were starting to get a little stir crazy. So instead of heading to the the shops, which seems to be the norm, we headed the other way up into the Dales and went for a long walk around Bolton Abbey. This is a great place to get lost and blow the cobwebs out of your head. Especially as it was -2C! There was a great winter sun low in the sky so  I took a few of these shots on my iPhone. The camera on this little device gets a lot of stick but they always say that the best camera is the one you have on you. After a bracing walk with the kids it was off to Bettys for some fine cakes and tea! Lou have some hot buttered pikelets while I had some warm minced pies with brandy butter. I now currently look like Santa’s twin! Now where is that rowing machine.

Be the Architect – Hope and Social

3739081039-1The Hope & Social guys have been working really hard over the last few weeks to get this live album out. It is the recording of the gig they did at the Crypt back in October. What is also pretty cool is that they have used some of the images we took on the night in the 80 page hardback book that comes in the boxset and the image on the disc itself. Also included in the book are poems prayers and wishes that people were asked to write on the night. So if you are looking for a fab xmas present for someone who loves music then this is for them. Click on the link and you can listen to the album and then purchase it if you want. It is a beautiful thing.

Hope and Social  -  ‘ Be the Architect’

The Set includes:

Be The Architect live CD recorded on the night

68 minutes of the Hope and Social live crypt show

80-page Be the Architect hardback book

We asked all who came to the Be The Architect show to help us record the evening. We asked them to write a wish/poem/prayer/hope and submit it to us for inclusion in the Be The Architect box set. The result is an incredible 80 page insight into people’s lives in 2009. It’s a beautiful and inspiring artifact.

Hope and Social début album Architect of This Church

Prayer Song (Bonus Track)

Excerpts of people’s “prayers” will be made into a new work by Hope and Social. This will be included in the download, i.e. not on the physical CD (NB, anyone purchasing this before 1st January 2010 will be sent a link to this track by email)

…all in a beautiful leatherette (yes, leatherette) box with silver H&S logo. Wow.

Also includes:

Immediate download of the 10 track live album recording of the show and

Immediate download of a photo- slideshow, a beautiful visual record of the evening.

Tamsin & Will: Wedding 28th November 2009

couple-1

Our last November wedding took us to Allerton Castle again for Tamsin & Will’s special day. As always the staff at the castle ran the day to perfection, and a big shout out to Claudie who coordinated everything beautifully, and an even bigger shout out to Allerton’s other events coordinator Sophie. She wasn’t there on the day because she was busy having a baby! Congratulations Sophie!!!

We were also joined on the day by a (newish) friend of ours, videographer Mark Lenik who was great to work with. He’s a great chap and very much on our wavelength, so if anyone’s looking for an ace video guy he’s yer man.

Anyway, back to Tamsin & Will. The day started out for both Lou and me at the castle for Tam’s preparations. As usual it it was a bit manic with the girls! Over the years I’ve discovered that one bride and four bridesmaids need a lot of stuff, so I seem to spend lots of time clearing things away to create (relatively) clean backgrounds. Amongst all this, though, Tamsin was a haven of calm. Meanwhile Will and the boys had arrived, all looking James Bond-esque in their DJ’s. The doing up of the cummerbunds caused much merriment.

The ceremony was beautiful, made all the more spine tingling by the presence of the Harrogate male voice choir, who sang some beautiful stirring songs. The Christmas tree was twinkling in the background in front of a roaring fire, and it all felt really special.

Although the weather was a bit chilly, Tam was more than willing to go outside for some photos after the ceremony which was great (and very brave) of her. She even managed to venture outside later on in the evening after the wedding breakfast for some night time shots (although I think by that time she’s had enough champagne to take the chill off!)

Tam and Will, your wedding was such a fabulous day – thanks for sharing it with us!

Lazy Saturday Afternoon

hopesocial-005

Today was the start of our first full weekend off in about 7 weeks. It has been a little busy to say the least over that time. Last week we covered Tamsin & Will’s which was excellent  and we will be posting  the wedding the pictures  tomorrow. The Half Price promotion we ran at the end of November was a tremendous success. All the orders have been placed with the lab and we will be shipping the prints out next week. The whole family braved the centre of Leeds for a little xmas shopping. I can’t believe it is so close now. The time has just evaporated this year! A little bit of lunch in Strada and then to the Adelphi to see Hope & Social do a small intermate gig in the afternoon. Nothing like a good pint of Landlord listening to the fab live music. At the end of the gig they did their track Buzzer Goes which is now famous for all the audience joining in with kazoo’s! Simon then invited people up to join him for a solo performance. This is when the kids decide to run down and join in – the start of a glittering career as a kazoo duo!  Cool.

Friday saw me up in the Lake District again speaking for Annabel Williams Contemporary Photographic Training. The day was an Insight Day for people who are thinking of developing photography as a career. We went through the same process over 6 years ago now and it helped us develop our business into what it is today. Also speaking yesterday was a fabulous photographer called Jodie Chapman. She is a lovely photographer with some stunning images. She recently just came back from doing a pre-wedding shoot in New York City! Check out her blog to look at some of the fab images Wow! If there is anybody out there that fancies doing the same it would be great to get involved :-) !
