Vickie & Tim: Wedding 5th September 2008

Last Friday saw us in a very wet North Yorkshire for Vickie & Tim’s wedding. The forecast said heavy rain, and for once it was right! Not that it spoiled Vickie and Tim’s day of course. In fact it made for some great shots.

We started out in Boroughbridge for the preparations, then it was a short walk (for the boys and a soaked Lou) to beautiful St. James’s Church for the ceremony. Fortunately Vickie had the luxury of a Rolls Royce to get her to the church so she arrived looking dry and stunning.

After the service it was back to Goldsborough Hall for the reception. We hadn’t worked there before – it’s a relatively new venue, but a beautiful one. The rooms have been beautifully designed and kitted out. We especially loved the bridal suite with it’s sunken bath with a view.

It was such a beautiful day – Vickie and Tim had a wonderful time and it was a real pleasure for Lou and I to be there.

Sunday Service @ Verve – Leeds: 31st August 2008

Sunday night I had the chance to go a see some excellent live music in Leeds. Barnaby Aldrick who has been a 2nd shooter on a couple of our weddings organises this live event in Leeds.

It is called the Sunday Service and is held at Verve Bar in Leeds on the last Sunday of every month. A great way to spend the evening drinking a beer chatting to some cool people but more importantly listening to some fab live music. Sunday night was a ‘Pilla’ special -These guys have been away for a while. As Barnaby puts it ‘These cheeky scamps have spent 6 months mincing the globe or ‘working’ in Amsterdam, and are now back with millions of exciting new ideas for us to feast on.’

Check out the Pilla MySpace page and have a listen to some of their stuff.

Supporting these guys were some other fab musicians. Gavin Mart & Daniel Norton started the evening of with a couple of tracks followed by Gary Stewart. Then we had the first set from Pilla which was fab.

Then we had a guy called Dan Wilde who just for me was just awesome. I am no Simon Cowell but I just thought this guy is going to be huge. Check his Myspace Page out.

Then MC ‘ Hammer Time ‘ Barnaby invited Pilla back for their second. Which had mixture of chilled and upbeat stuff – Even a bit of Elvis!

Joanne & David: Wedding 30th August 2008

So we woke up on the Saturday morning with relatively clear skies and knowing it was going to be quite a warm and more importantly DRY day. Probably the first time this summer. Anyway the lucky couple to get such a day was Joanne & David.

We had such a great with these guys who lived locally so not much traveling was needed. The ceremony was at St Paul’s in Drighlington. Reverend Susan Askey conducted the ceremony and I have to say she was excellent both from the point of view of the couple but also for us. As photographers we try and capture the most important part of the day which for us is the ceremony itself. All too often we find ourselves having to stay at the back of the church during the ceremony but on this occasion I was allowed to sit in the choir pews at the front. ‘Ring Side Seats’ which allowed me to get some lovely close up shots without interfering with events.

Afterwards it was off to the Gomersal Park Hotel for the wedding breakfast and a BBQ in the evening which actually felt like a proper warm summer’s evening.

Joanne & David thank you for letting us be part of your day. We hope you continue to get the warm sunshine on your honeymoon and we will see you when you get back.  Phil & Lou xx
